Full Schedule for Asakusa Shrine's Grand Festival "Sanja Matsuri" Now Available

The detailed schedule for Sanja Matsuri, one of Asakusa's biggest events of early summer, has been officially announced as the Grand Festival of Asakusa Shrine. Sanja Matsuri is known for the mikoshi (portable shrine) processions by Asakusa Shrine parishioners and the joint procession of neighborhood mikoshi, and is a signature festival of Asakusa that draws large crowds of tourists and local residents every year. The detailed schedule has now been published on the official website of the Asakusa Shrine Hosankai, where you can check the event overview and highlights. The Asakusa Tourist Federation is also sharing information and is calling on visiting tourists to observe precautions and good manners. As traffic restrictions and relocation of bus stops are usually implemented during the festival period, visitors are advised to check information in advance. Further updates are expected to be posted as they become available.
