"Discover Kuwana: Craft & Cuisine," a trade fair showcasing specialty products from Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, is being held at ENGAWA ASAKUSA, a multi-purpose store in Asakusa 2-chome. The event runs from Friday, September 25 to Thursday, October 8, 2026, and is organized by the Kuwana City Tourism Association.
Highlights
- From crafts to gourmet food, about 80 products from around 20 brands are on display
- Saturday, 10/3 only: Free tasting of Kuwana's signature "sake-steamed clams" (first 50 servings)
- Weekends only (9/26 & 27, 10/3 & 4): Tasting and sales of the famous confection "Yasunaga Mochi," which has a shelf life of just 2 days (500 yen for a pack of 5)
To join the sake-steamed clam tasting, you need to register for the free "Kuwana Fan Club." Yasunaga Mochi is delivered directly from Kuwana City on each day of sale, so you can enjoy freshly made mochi that is a rare treat in Tokyo.
The product lineup includes crafts and goods such as the Kuwana cast-iron "Sukiyaki pot (Suki-nabe)," kumiko coasters, and "tunagaru orizuru," inspired by connected cranes (Renzuru), as well as food items such as clam clear soup, shigure-ni (simmered clams), rice beer, and domestic menma (bamboo shoots). The venue is ENGAWA ASAKUSA (Fujita Building 1F, 2-1-16 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo). Business hours are 10:00–19:30, and it is closed on Wednesdays.
