Kawamo Club Presents "Sato and Kato" (Asakusa Kokono Theater)

Performance Overview

"Sato and Kato," a new documentary theater piece by Kawamo Club, the solo unit of actor Chiaki Kawatsura, will be staged at Asakusa Kokono Theater. It is the latest installment in the documentary theater series that turns "only what really happened" into theater, following a previous work that was also highly acclaimed.

Synopsis

Kato, a real-life manga artist, was once the talk of the town for a famous manga that was even adapted into a TV drama. He later became alcohol-dependent and could no longer draw. Sato, an ordinary person who had been a big fan of his since long ago, starts sharing a home with Kato and supports his daily life, hoping to help him get back on his feet. The shared life seemed to go well at first, but gradually fell apart, and in the end the two came to blows and parted ways.

Even though Kato's drinking was the cause, why did it escalate to the point of a fistfight? The story uncovers the reason by depicting Sato's family background.
