The 166th Sosaku Buyo Kawafuji-ryu Joint Performance
Kawafuji-ryu, a school of creative Japanese dance (Sosaku Buyo) that has been passed down in Asakusa for many years, will hold its 166th joint performance. The very fact that the school has reached its 166th performance speaks to the depth of its history and its steady efforts to preserve Japanese dance as a traditional performing art.
This performance is hosted by Kawafuji-ryu and will be a special stage where students who train diligently every day showcase the skills and expression they have honed. Through the program, audiences can fully enjoy the highlights unique to Japanese dance, such as the aesthetic sense embodied in every handling of the fan and every movement, and the harmony between costumes that reflect the seasons and the music.
Best of all, admission is free and all seats are unreserved, making this a performance that is easy to attend even for those unfamiliar with Japanese dance. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you would like a good seat, we recommend arriving at the venue with plenty of time to spare.
Being in Asakusa, you can also enjoy strolling around the area and sampling street food before or after the performance, allowing you to soak in the atmosphere of old downtown Tokyo throughout the day. We invite you to visit the venue with family and friends for this rare opportunity to experience a stage art woven from tradition and creativity.
