Kuramae Tsunagaru Bon Dance 2026

The Kuramae Shopping Street Association and the Kuramae Sankei Neighborhood Association will hold the Bon dance event "Kuramae Tsunagaru Bon Dance 2026" on Shinbori-dori (2 Misuji, Taito-ku). The street will be closed to traffic from the Misuji 2-chome intersection (Kasuga-dori) to the Kuramae Elementary School West intersection to serve as the venue.

Local senior residents said, "We used to hold Bon dances around here," and the collaboration between the shopping street and the neighborhood association brought the event to life. It aims to foster interaction between longtime and newer residents, between old and new shops, and to build connections with residents of apartment buildings.

Highlights

• From 3:00 p.m., performers with ties to Taito Ward will take the stage. Appearing are Wakayama Shachu of Edo Sato Kagura, Momoe Shimizu singing "Shin-Asakusabashi Ondo," and TORAfic☆signALL. The guest is the duo "Sasuke." The emcee is Chiaki Saito
• The main Bon dance begins at 5:30 p.m. Yoshinari Chocho, head of the Nihon Minyo Chocho-ryu school, will lead the dance circle
• Local cafés, variety shops, and food trucks will set up stalls. There are also children's corners run by the neighborhood association, including ring toss and super ball scooping

Five neighboring neighborhood associations are also helping with the operation, and it is said to be the last Bon dance of the year in Taito Ward. The event runs from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It will be held rain or shine, but canceled in case of severe weather.
