Events AsakusaNovember Shakoya (Candy Craft Experience & Sake Tasting)
Published Oct 20, 2026
Asakusa Shrine holds "Shakoya" every month, opening its shrine office as a place of learning with the aim of passing on Japan's traditional culture. It is a shrine version of a "terakoya" (a temple school), and anyone from children to adults can take part.
November Program
In November, the Niiname-sai (harvest thanksgiving festival) is held, and it is also the time when many children visit the shrine for Shichi-Go-San. This time, you can enjoy the following two experiences.
- Candy craft experience (for children): "Ameshin," who has nurtured candy craft as a traditional craft of Asakusa, will assist. Adults will mainly watch the demonstration.
- Sake tasting: Compare Japanese sake brewed from the harvested rice and learn about the differences in flavor and body depending on the rice.
