Published Sep 25, 2026
Taiwanese castella specialty shop "Tai Le Dan Gao (台楽蛋糕)," operated by BOC Japan LLC, which runs franchises of Taiwanese food shops, will open a limited-time pop-up store at the event space in front of the automatic doors on the 1st floor of "Asakusa EkiMise" from Wednesday, September 23 to Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The brand opened its Tokyu Plaza Ginza store in March 2021, and became so popular that a long line stretched all the way to Ginza Station from the first day. Specialty staff who trained in Taiwan come to Japan to faithfully recreate the authentic method, while using high-quality Japanese ingredients.
Taiwanese castella, known as "xian kao dan gao" (freshly baked cake), is a homestyle sweet that has long been loved in Taiwan. Its appeal lies in its fluffy texture, baked on the spot, and its gentle sweetness. The products of "Tai Le Dan Gao" are slowly baked using fresh egg yolks, milk, carefully selected flour and meringue, and are known for their signature "fuwaa-shuwaa" (soft and melt-in-your-mouth) texture.
