Shichi-Go-San Kaji-e Blessing Ceremony
Once November arrives, families visiting shrines and temples for Shichi-Go-San become a common sight in Asakusa. Held in the Main Hall of Senso-ji Temple during a period centered on the 15th, the Shichi-Go-San Kaji-e is one of the local events that has long been cherished in the community.
The sight of children dressed in festive kimono and haori hakama, led by the hand toward the Main Hall by their families with slightly nervous expressions, is a heartwarming scene unique to this season.
At the Kaji-e, monks perform prayers, giving thanks for the children's growth so far and praying for their healthy growth in the years ahead. As the solemn sound of sutra chanting echoes through the Main Hall, the families quietly pressing their palms together convey a warm and caring gaze toward their children.
Because the ceremony is held every day during the period, visitors can choose a convenient day to pay their respects, which makes it easy to attend. Why not offer your prayers at the historic Senso-ji Temple to mark this milestone in life, Shichi-Go-San?
