Published Oct 13, 2026
The imagawayaki specialty shop "Asakusa Imagawayaki Tsuki no Usagi Asakusa Store" will hold its grand opening near Shin-Nakamise Street in Asakusa on Thursday, October 22, 2026. It is operated by MARU Co., Ltd.
Premium Red Bean Paste from a Long-Established Bean Paste Maker
The chunky red bean paste (tsubuan) is cooked by a long-established bean paste maker founded in 1950 (Showa 25). Made with carefully selected 100% Hokkaido-grown adzuki beans and a method handed down from the previous generation, it is finished with a modest sweetness. With a focus on the balance when eaten together with the batter, you can enjoy both the fragrant batter and the flavor and texture of the adzuki beans.
The Thinking Behind the Brand
The brand name likens the round imagawayaki to the moon, and the leaping rabbit to a symbol of progress and rising fortune. The tsubuan imagawayaki is stamped with a crescent moon and a leaping rabbit brand. The concept is "A Japanese sweetness that soothes you in a single bite." The shop aims to be a specialty store that is easy to choose for everyday snacks as well as for gifts to bring home to family.
