The 21st Hokusai Festival

The Hokusai Festival is a community festival held every autumn in the Kamezawa district of Sumida Ward. It features events inspired by the area's history and culture, and this year marks its 21st edition since it began in 2006.

Highlights

The festival values collaboration with people both inside and outside the community, and local educational institutions take part. In addition, because Midoricho Park was the site of the Edo-period Kamiyashiki (upper residence) of the Tsugaru family of the Hirosaki Domain, the festival also receives cooperation from the Aomori Prefectural Association, the city of Hirosaki, and others.
