Apartment Hotel "Sumu Asakusa South" Opens

On October 2, Sumu Inc. held a media preview and trial stay event for "Sumu Asakusa South," a new experimental apartment hotel opening in the Asakusa/Kuramae area. The hotel is a 10-story building with 17 rooms, located in 3-chome Kotobuki, Taito-ku, Tokyo, and opened on October 10.

Concept: "Stay as if you live here"

The hotel promotes itself as "a base where you stay as if you live here, reclaiming your own time while feeling the atmosphere of the town." As longer stays increase and the boundary between travel and living blurs, it is positioned as a hotel that experiments with a new form of travel. It is the first newly built property, drawing on the insights gained from "Sumu Higashi-Ueno," the renovated Property No. 0 that opened in February this year.

Cross-industry co-creation and community contribution

This is a co-creation project centered on companies participating in Airbnb Partners. Operations are handled by Kasoku Inc., space supervision by ADDReC Inc., and cultural content curation by CCC. As "socially impactful real estate," it has set regional revitalization and disaster preparedness as its KPIs, and in an emergency it will provide stockpiled water and disaster prevention kits to local residents. It has also started "Sumu Gochi," a donation program that works with restaurants in Taito-ku to provide free meals to children.

Future plans

"Sumu Higashi-Ueno" had an occupancy rate of 94% and an average stay of 3.4 nights. The company plans to open newly built hotels in Oshiage, Shinjuku Gyoen, and other areas, aiming to develop approximately 500 rooms nationwide by 2030.
